Our Affordable Housing Program

The Clarksville Community Development Corporation runs an affordable housing program in the Clarksville neighborhood. The program is the only one of its kind operating West of I-35 in Austin and one of the only affordable housing programs in the nation operating in an affluent neighborhood. In 2020, the Austin chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) recognized the CCDC’s affordable housing program by awarding the organization a Community Vision Award.

The program consists of 11 properties, including single-family homes, duplexes and an accessory dwelling unit (ADU). The residences are scattered throughout Clarksville and provide low-cost housing to 17 families.

The CCDC rents to families with children under the age of 18 whose gross family income is no more than 60% of the median family income for Austin and Travis County. However, two of our properties, a newly constructed single family home and an ADU are reserved for families with incomes that are no more than 50% of the median family income.

In addition to living in a safe, tree-filled, convenient neighborhood, the grade school-age children of the CCDC’s tenants attend Mathews Elementary, one of Austin’s best elementary schools. The education children receive at Mathews provides them with the foundation they need to succeed once they leave elementary school and throughout their adult lives.

Clarksville is within walking distance of four city parks. Together they feature two splash pads, three pools, several playscapes, pickle ball and basketball courts, and picnic tables.

Prak Property Management manages the CCDC’s properties in consultation with the CCDC’s board of directors. Individuals interested in learning more about the CCDC’s housing program are encouraged to read the CCDC’s Applicant and Resident Eligibility policy. They can also get their questions answered or apply to become a tenant by calling 512-808-7999.
