Joyful Family Reunion at the Hezikiah Haskell House
In June, Clyde Haskell, the son of Hezikiah Haskell, Junior, visited the Haskell House for the first time in about 50 years. Clyde Haskell, who has lived in California since he was a young boy, spent his very early years in the House and last visited there after his father died.
Clyde’s daughter, Shawton Haskell-Hankins, who lives in Houston, accompanied her father to the House together with her teenage son. Also with them was Clyde’s step sister Frances Colford, who lives in Bryan, Texas.
Numerous Haskell relatives greeted Clyde upon his arrival at the House and everyone spent time inside sharing memories, asking questions and looking at a scrapbook related to the Haskell family. Afterwards, everyone gathered around the picnic tables in front of the House for lunch.
Also, the CCDC presented Clyde with a copy of the iconic photo inside the House that shows Hezikiah Haskell, Senior, his wife, three daughters and Clyde’s father standing in front of the House. Hezikiah, Sr. is wearing his Union soldier uniform and proudly holding his musket. Hezikiah Haskell, Jr., was just a toddler at the time the photo was taken
